Shawn Alazaus - Director of Pitching

Shawn Alazaus is a former minor league baseball pitcher who played in the New York Yankees farm system in 1993 and 1995. Originally drafted by the Yankees in the 13th round of the 1993 amateur draft, he pitched for the Oneonta Yankees in his first professional season, going 2-1 with an 0.93 ERA in 28 games in relief. He also struck out 37 batters in 38 2/3 innings.

Coach Alazaus served as the pitching coach for the Mount Union College baseball team in 2003. He also served as the baseball coach for Columbiana High School and Alliance High School . He is currently a math teacher at West Branch High School where he is a coach for both the baseball and football teams.

Two of Shawn's sons have come through the OEB program.  Brant, a left handed pitcher graduated in 2018 and had an incredible career at Walsh University.  He is now a graduate transfer at Xavier.  Beau is a member of our 2024 grad class and plays for Coach Mike Byrne.

Rob Beahn - Catching Director

Coach Beahn has been with OEB for many years, and is incredibly respected across the travel baseball landscape.  After spending 5 years with our 2019 grad class, Rob immediately took over our inaugural 22u team.  He has done a wonderful job with that group the last 3 seasons, and has quickly become one of the top teams in the WRCL.  As a player, Coach Beahn was a standout catcher at Cuyahoga Falls High School.  He played his college baseball at Potomac State and the University of Pittsburgh.  If interested in setting up a lesson with Coach Beahn please contact him at 330-858-1376.

Randy Rundgren - Infield and Hitting

2023 will be year 11 with OEB for Coach Rundgren.  Easily one of the best coaches in Ohio, players of all ages love playing for Coach Rundgren.  He is fun, passionate and really relates with today's student-athletes.  He has coached our high level fall teams the last few years, and families are constantly impressed by his approach and coaching style.  Randy grew up in Hawaii and California.  He was drafted by the Kansas City Royals in the 2004 MLB draft.  In addition to his OEB responsibilities, Randy is also the head baseball coach at Trinity High School.  He is available for lessons on the west side at D-Bat and can be reached at 808-651-5872.

Russell Haigh - Hitting - Fielding - Pitching

Coach Haigh played and coached at the collegiate level.  He coached at the University of Wyoming for two years, and at Cochise College in Arizona for two years.  He has been with OEB for 3 years, coaching teams at multiple age levels.  Coach Haigh can be reached at 303-720-3890 and is available for lessons at D-Bat.

Rick Giavonette - Hitting

Coach Rick Giavonette joined OEB in 2022 and made an immediate impact with our hitters.  He coached our 2023/17u group and helped lead the offense to a .505 slugging percentage, with 90 doubles, 37 triples, 18 home runs and 274 RBI.  A University School grad, he also coaches hitters under Rob McNerney.  Coach Rick attended the College of Wooster where he caught for 3 years.    Rick is available to work with hitters on the east side and can be reached at 216-906-1048.

JULIO ROSALES - HITTING AND DEFENSE

Coach Rosales grew up in Venezuela in a very competitive baseball environment that included players that reached the Major League level. These experiences made him develop skills and abilities that helped with his recruitment to come play collegiate baseball in the United States. In 2014, he arrived in the US to attend College of the Albemarle, (JUCO) a Community College located in Elizabeth City, North Carolina. There, he played for 2 seasons and transferred to Notre Dame College in South Euclid, Ohio where he played 1 more baseball season in 2016. After that he became a student assistant for the baseball team for 2 years. At Notre Dame
College, he had the privilege to play for and coach next to former Cleveland Indian pitcher Len Barker, and former AL Rookie of The Year Joe Charboneau. After culminating his undergrad program, he went on to graduate school at the University of Saint Mary in Kansas where he was a Graduate Assistant and a volunteer assistant for the baseball team while completing his MBA. Mike Byrne - Hitting and Catching

Coach Byrne will be back with OEB for  his 7th season in 2023.  After seeing the 2020 graduating class from their 15u season through 18u, he is excited to cycle back down and work with another talented group of young men.  Mike played JUCO baseball for two years before an injury ended his career.  He has coached high school baseball for several years in NE Ohio.  He is a teacher at Strongsville High School.   He is available for lessons out of Pinnacle in Medina, and can be reached at 440-465-7231.

Chad Sedio - Hitting

Chad joined OEB in 2019 as a guest instructor and worked with all age groups.  Born in Cleveland, Chad played at Miami of Ohio before being drafted in 2016 by the Detroit Tigers.  During the 2019 season he played 94 games across three levels of the minors, and finished the year with the Toledo MudHens (AAA).  Chad is available for lessons this off-season in the Strongsville area.  Contact him at 216-870-1681. 

Doug Sanders - Hitting/Infield

Coach Sanders came to OEB with vast playing/coaching experience.  He was an all conference player at Kent State and led the team in hits in 2008.  He began his college coaching career with the Golden Flashes two years later.  He then coached at Malone for one year before moving on to Central Michigan.  He spent four years at CMU as the recruiting coordinator.  He joined OEB in 2019 and served as our 16u head coach and the organizations college guidance officer.  He is available for lessons in Hudson on Monday's, Wednesday's, Thursday's and Saturday's.  He can be reached at 989-330-5076.

Zach Santoro - Hitting/Outfield

Coach Santoro is no stranger to the OEB family.  Zach played 3 years for OEB before committing to Appalachian State.  He spent one year in North Carolina before transferring home to Ohio and finished his career at Notre Dame College.  A two time all-conference tournament selection, Zach finished his Falcon playing career with 154 hits, 96 runs and 77 RBI in 152 games.  In 2020 he returned to OEB as an assistant coach on the first OEB 22u team.   He also is currently on the Notre Dame College coaching staff. Josh Hurford - Pitching

The 2023 season will be Josh's sixth with OEB.  An all conference pitcher at Malone, Josh now serves as the Pitching Coach for the Pioneers.  Coach Hurford has directed our arm care program the last four years and has coached high school teams and our OEB college aged team.  He is available for pitching lessons in the Alliance area on Monday's, Tuesday's, Thursday's and Friday's after 5:00 p.m.  Contact Josh if interested.  Individual and group pricing is available.  He can be reached at: 330-248-3540.
