On May 12, Schuerman pitched a complete game at East Tennessee State, leading Furman to a 6-5 victory. The left-handed pitcher from Lakota West High School struck out eight batters without issuing a walk. As Fruman's junior season winds down, the southpaw is 4-7 on the year with a 4.96 ERA, and 52 strikeouts against 16 walks in 74.1 innings, for the Paladins.
Player of the Week: Hayden Cartt, University of Charleston
Helping the University of Charleston reach the NCAA Division II Tournament for the first time in school history, outfielder Hayden Cartt had a big week in the Mountain East Conference tournament. In 19 at-bats, Cartt picked up 10 hits, including two home runs, to score four runs and driving in four teammates. In 38 games, the product of Grove City High School is batting a team-leading .370, with six home runs.
