OE Werth runs the table to win second title in 2014

~~Ohio Elite – Werth 11U played great baseball on Sunday to take home the 7Up Capital Cup Championship. OE Werth went 5-0 for the tournament, beating some very good teams along the way.

OE Werth beat The Bridge Beasts 14-1 to start pool play on a cold wet Berliner field.  Next up was the Bellbrook Bulldogs which OE Werth beat 5-1 while hail and sleet fell.  After going 2-0 in pool play and only giving up 2 runs, OE Werth earned the #3 Seed.

Bracket play started with a walk off quarterfinal win vs the Columbus Sharks 7-6 in a very good baseball game by both teams.  OE Werth got strong pitching from Mason Whiteley, Niko Kausky, and Mitch Steele.  OE Werth also had key hits from Ryan Miller, Nate Werth and Jack Foreman, and a walk-off hit by Dylan Lambert

Next up was the Semifinals.  OE Werth would face a very good Ohio Elite – Hatfield team.  OE Werth got a 6 inning complete game gem from Dylan Lambert, to beat OE Hatfield 10-7.  Great hitting by Niko Kausky, Elijah Johnson, Mason Whitely and Gage Butz were also factors in the victory.

Next up was The Ohio Valley Vipers.  This was the fifth meeting between OE Werth and the Vipers this season, with the season series being tied 2-2.  OE Werth again got great Pitching from Mitch Steele and Elijah Johnson to win the rubber match 11-6.  Doubles by CJ Dean and Max Utrup led the way for Ohio Elite.
Over all OE Werth got great pitching, timely hitting and excellent defense all weekend long.  It was a great weekend for the boys.  Next up OE Werth will be playing in the Wayne Williams Memorial Tournament in Dublin, Ohio.
