Elite beat the heat in Sunday Doubleheader

Wellington, May 20:

Game #1:
After a 1 hour delay on a hot, sunny Sunday afternoon Ohio Elite won a hard
fought battle in Game 1. With OE leading 3-2 in the top of the 6th Clay Crawford
walked up to the plate. In a classic matchup against outstanding pitcher Mason
Montgomery, Crawford drilled a fastball deep into the gap between right and
center. The big fella took giant strides around the bases for a 2-run homer and
5-2 lead. He entered the dugout and was mobbed by 12 jubiliant teamates. The
Elite blew the game open in the 6th for a 10-2 final score. Pitching well for
the Navy and Sky Blue were Robby Levak, JT Caver, Brendan O' Donnell and Jake
Snyder. Snyder recorded 4 strikeouts in the last 2 innings as his nasty slider
was dancing off of the outside corner of the plate. Collecting two hits each
were Haedyn Csiszar, Clay Crawford and Jonathan Machamer.

Game #2:
Down 3-2 going into the last inning Ohio Elite erupted for 12 runs in the final
inning to win 14-5. Collecting multiple hits for The Elite were Jonathan
Machamer, Clay Crawford, and Brendan O' Donnell. Four pitchers held the Vipers
to 4 hits. Jonathan Machamer, Jack Amendola, Clay Crawford and Riley Feltner
threw the ball well.

Great Defense:
In the 1st inning in Game #1 the crowd witnessed 2 web gems. Breydan Cavey
fielded a hot smash deep in the hole at short and fired the ball to 1st as Riley
Feltner made a nice pick for the out at 1st. Cavey plays SS well beyond his
years as the play should be on Sportscenter. Also in that inning Matt Lobeck
charged a slow roller and made a beautiful cross body throw for the out. Stanley
Kaczmar extended his streak to 3 consecutive games of throwing out would be base
stealers. Kaczmar used his patented quick release to throw out a runner at 2nd
in the 2nd inning.

Sacrifice:
Ohio Elite continued to play unselfish baseball. Isaiah Jackson and Jack
Amendola both advanced runners in key situations.

Great Hitting:
The Elite pounded 25 hits in the doubleheader. Machamer(5 hits), Crawford(4 hits), Csiszar(3 hits) lead the way.

Elite win 10-3 to remain undefeated at home

Cuyahoga Falls, May17:   Ohio Elite used clutch defensive plays in the first four innings to halt rally’s on their way to a 10-3 victory over the Diamond Boys.

First Inning:   Matt Lobeck gloved a scorching ground ball at the hot corner, got up from his knees and caught the runner between 2nd and 3rd for the key out.

2nd Inning:   With runners on 1st and 3rd the Diamond Boys tried to steal 2nd. Stanley Kaczmar pump faked a throw to 2nd base that would have made Drew Brees proud.   The runner at 3rd fell for the pump fake and Kaczmar

snapped a quick throw to 3rd to get the runner.

4th Inning:   It looked like a sure double on a blast to right field that bounced off the wall. Jack Amendola played the carom and threw a bullet to 2nd base to get the runner by 3 steps.

The key defensive plays kept the Diamond Boys in check until the Elite bats warmed up.   The whole fierce Navy and Sky Blue line-up hit the ball well. The deep and talented Ohio Elite pitching staff finished the job.   Jake Snyder, Riley Feltner, Matt Lobeck, Jonathan Machamer, JT Caver, Breydan Cavey and Robby Levak went 1 inning each and combined to give up only 3 runs.

With the win Ohio Elite 11U North move to 5-2 heading into a Doubleheader Sunday at North Coast Vipers.
