April 17, 2012: Chad Crawford (father of OE 11U baseball player Clay Crawford) was honored at the Walsh Jesuit High School baseball game by throwing out the ceremonial first pitch against Akron Archbishop Hoban. Ohio Elite players were honored to stand next to the WJHS baseball team out on the field during the National Athem. Thank you again to Marcie Shorter for sharing the beautiful photos of a special moment.

This Ohio Elite U-11 Team is based in Northeast Ohio. During the season, the team will play their home games at Walsh Jesuit High School. The schedule will be primarily weekend tournaments from May through the end of July. There will be off season training, including fall, winter, and spring workouts.

Wellington, May 20: Game #1: After a 1 hour delay on a hot, sunny Sunday afternoon Ohio Elite won a hard fought battle in Game 1. With OE leading 3-2 in the top of the 6th Clay Crawford walked up to the plate. In a classic matchup against outstanding pitcher Mason Montgomery, Crawford drilled a fastball deep into the gap between right and center. The big fella took giant strides around the bases for a 2-run homer and 5-2 lead. He entered the dugout and was mobbed by 12 jubiliant teamates. The Elite blew the game open in the 6th for a 10-2 final score. Pitching well for the Navy and Sky Blue were Robby Levak, JT Caver, Brendan O' Donnell and Jake Snyder. Snyder recorded 4 strikeouts in the last 2 innings as his nasty slider was dancing off of the outside corner of the plate. Collecting two hits each were Haedyn Csiszar, Clay Crawford and Jonathan Machamer. Game #2: Down 3-2 going into the last inning Ohio Elite erupted for 12 runs in the final inning to win 14-5. Collecting multiple hits for The Elite were Jonathan Machamer, Clay Crawford, and Brendan O' Donnell. Four pitchers held the Vipers to 4 hits. Jonathan Machamer, Jack Amendola, Clay Crawford and Riley Feltner threw the ball well. Great Defense: In the 1st inning in Game #1 the crowd witnessed 2 web gems. Breydan Cavey fielded a hot smash deep in the hole at short and fired the ball to 1st as Riley Feltner made a nice pick for the out at 1st. Cavey plays SS well beyond his years as the play should be on Sportscenter. Also in that inning Matt Lobeck charged a slow roller and made a beautiful cross body throw for the out. Stanley Kaczmar extended his streak to 3 consecutive games of throwing out would be base stealers. Kaczmar used his patented quick release to throw out a runner at 2nd in the 2nd inning. Sacrifice: Ohio Elite continued to play unselfish baseball. Isaiah Jackson and Jack Amendola both advanced runners in key situations. Great Hitting: The Elite pounded 25 hits in the doubleheader. Machamer(5 hits), Crawford(4 hits), Csiszar(3 hits) lead the way.
Cuyahoga Falls, May17: Ohio Elite used clutch defensive plays in the first four innings to halt rally’s on their way to a 10-3 victory over the Diamond Boys.
First Inning: Matt Lobeck gloved a scorching ground ball at the hot corner, got up from his knees and caught the runner between 2nd and 3rd for the key out.
2nd Inning: With runners on 1st and 3rd the Diamond Boys tried to steal 2nd. Stanley Kaczmar pump faked a throw to 2nd base that would have made Drew Brees proud. The runner at 3rd fell for the pump fake and Kaczmar
snapped a quick throw to 3rd to get the runner.
4th Inning: It looked like a sure double on a blast to right field that bounced off the wall. Jack Amendola played the carom and threw a bullet to 2nd base to get the runner by 3 steps.
The key defensive plays kept the Diamond Boys in check until the Elite bats warmed up. The whole fierce Navy and Sky Blue line-up hit the ball well. The deep and talented Ohio Elite pitching staff finished the job. Jake Snyder, Riley Feltner, Matt Lobeck, Jonathan Machamer, JT Caver, Breydan Cavey and Robby Levak went 1 inning each and combined to give up only 3 runs.
With the win Ohio Elite 11U North move to 5-2 heading into a Doubleheader Sunday at North Coast Vipers.
Cuyahoga Falls, May 13: It was a recipe with all the ingredients for a perfect day. Sunny blue sky. Check. Home Opener. Check. All of the wonderful, proud Mom’s in attendance. Check.
The Ohio Elite put on a hitting display for Mother’s Day as they crushed 16 hits and scored 22 runs vs. the Northeast Ohio Hurricane’s at Warrior Field. Leading the way for the Navy and Sky Blue were Haedyn Csiszar and Robby Levak. The two combined for 6 hits and 8 RBI in the decisive win.
With the win Ohio Elite North 11U improves to 4-2 on the season heading into their next game Thursday night vs. Diamond Boys at Warrior Field.
