OEB Cleveland is very excited to announce the addition of Brian Warning as the head coach of our 17u team for the 2017 season!  We are very fortunate to add Brian to our staff.  He will be very valuable to our organization not just on the field but in the recruiting world as well!  Please welcome me in joining Coach Warning to the OEB Family!

From the JCU site about Coach Warning:

Brian Warning joins the John Carroll baseball program for the 2016 season.  He will be active in a variety of areas, including serving as third base coach, as well as working with infielders and being involved in the team’s recruiting efforts.

Coach Warning comes to John Carroll after a successful two year stint as a graduate assistant coach at Lake Erie College in nearby Painesville.  While coaching for the Storm, Warning was involved in working with the pitching staff, coaching the team’s first basemen, and also served as the program’s recruiting coordinator, responsible for attracting some of the state of Ohio’s top prep baseball talent to the Northeast part of the state.

The 2014 team was the most successful team in program history, finishing as the runner up in the highly competitive Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. They won a program record 32 games and tied a mark for conference wins in a season with 22.  Additionally, the 2014 team reached the NCAA Midwest Regional, marking the first national postseason appearance in program history.

The 2014 pitching staff also set program marks in earned run average, innings pitched, runs allowed, earned runs allowed, walks allowed, and batting average against.  Warning was an especially key contributor in the development of the Storm bullpen, which featured an ERA of 3.22 and a batting average against of just .267 during that record setting year.

Warning was fortunate enough to be a contributor the success of two pitchers who were lauded with honorable mention honors from the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, Heath Kelley in 2014 and Brandon Grunda, the school’s all-time leader in saves, in 2015.  Additionally, Warning was a contributor in the defensive development of Lucas Raley, who was awarded the GLIAC’s Freshman Player of the Year in 2014, and was also an ABCA and D2SIDA All-Midwest Region selection.

Prior to Lake Erie College, Warning got his career started as an assistant at his alma mater, Thiel College, from 2011-2013.

Prior to his experience at Thiel College, Warning worked as an assistant coach with some of the top amateur baseball programs in the Midwest from the Columbus, Ohio area.  Warning served as an assistant with the Ohio Elite baseball organization during the summer of 2011, where his team compiled a 38-9 overall record and saw eight players continue their baseball careers collegiately, five with Division I and two with Division II institutions.

The Hilliard, Ohio native earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration from Thiel College in 2011, and completed his M.B.A. at Lake Erie College in August of 2015.  He currently resides in Mentor, Ohio.
