OE Werth Throws No Hitter And a Complete Game Shutout to Secure Title

12U Ohio Elite Werth displayed excellent pitching by getting their first tourney win of the 2015 season at the USSSA Championship Challenge.  After a slow start in Pool play, losing a close one to the Ohio Valley Vipers 4-1, OE Werth pounded out a 12-4 win over Olentangy Braves.

Going 1-1 in pool play, but only surrendering 5 runs, landed OE Werth the 3 seed, which meant a good fight to get to the final.  Bracket play started with a bang, as OE Werth threw a complete game no hitter against South Oakland Warriors out of Detroit.  In the Semifinal, OE Werth jumped out to a 7-0 lead and never looked back beating the Bridge Beasts out of Cambridge 13-4

In the Final OE Werth had a rematch with the Ohio Valley Vipers. It was a well-played game by both teams.  One dominated by pitching.  OE Werth jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first, and that was enough as pitching took over the game.  Only 4 hits combined by both teams made it a true pitchers dual.  OE Werth got another complete game, this time a shutout.  OE Werth held on tight with a 1-0 win to secure the title.

It was a great weekend for Ohio Elite Werth.  Lead by great pitching and very timely hitting, OE Werth was able to push through some early struggles to earn their first title of the year.  Next week they are headed to the USSSA GWS Qualifier in Cincinnati where they hope to continue their strong play.
